The Way…continued

Warning: What I am about to say is terribly offensive to many people. In fact, it is so offensive that when someone says it, they are thought of as ignorant, narrow-minded, unwelcoming and intolerant.

Yes, what I am about to say can be very offensive, but it also happens to be true.  Here it is ... listen careful: There is no way, no path, no means by which anyone can be saved except through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus himself has said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). 

That is either true… or it’s not. You either believe it… or you don’t. There is no middle ground.

If Jesus said it and it’s not true… then he is a liar. That’s the real question you have to answer… do you believe that Jesus is a liar?

So, what is The Way?

Well, Jesus already said that HE was the Way, but where does that come from? Why would he refer to himself in that way?

Isaiah 35:8-10

And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not journey on it; it will be for those who walk in that Way; wicked fools will not go about on it. 9 No lion will be there, nor will any ferocious beast get up on it; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, 10 and the ransomed of the LORD will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

In the end of days when God’s people make their way to Zion (heaven) the prophet Isaiah said that they would walk on a highway called the Way of Holiness.

On this highway there will be no “unclean” people because only those who follow Jesus and have accepted his forgiveness for their sin can be on the road. It doesn’t mean that these are perfect people… only that their sins have been forgiven.

There will be no wicked fools – I look forward to that day because it seems that the fools are getting more and more vocal these days.

There will be no lion, no predators, no one seeking to take advantage of others. That includes Satan who is referred to as a lion seeking whom he may devour.

The only ones walking there in that WAY will be the redeemed… the ransomed. The ones who accepted the payment Jesus made for our sins on the cross. The ones who, in humility, realized that they could not do it on their own… but realized they needed a Savior who is Jesus.

And there will be singing, gladness, and everlasting joy.

You see, The Way is Christ – period.
